Sayeda Yasmin-Karim, General Secretary, AABEA New England

Sayeda Yasmin-Karim works as an Instructor in the Radiation Oncology department with the Physics and Biophysics group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, Boston. She earned her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester, an MS in Immunology and Hematology from Long Island University, and an MBBS from Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh.

Her research is in nanotechnology, immunotherapy, and radiation treatment to generate abscopal effect for cancer care. Her awards include Best in Physics from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Excellence in Research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Excellence in Mentoring from Brigham Research Institute, and she has published widely in peer-reviewed journals.

She enjoys outdoor activities, gardening, cooking, reading and volunteering, and has served on the AABEA-NE Executive Committee for the last six years in various positions.
